I know you are anxiously awaiting these results every week! The competition is still very stiff with lots of obstacles standing in each of the contestants way. Some of us have traveled and eaten rich food. Some of us have had an extra beer or two on the weekends. Well, what good is a diet if you can’t live it up at least a little bit? I think that the good news of all this is that we are all on a downward trend. We did have two people drop out (actually, not even start) and I will continue to “remind” them about that on this set of blog entries until they start up or at least comment that they quit too early! Apparently, they were “busy”. I know my life has been very easy with zero stress so I can understand.
As a reminder, we track two things – who lost the greatest percentage for the week and who has lost the greatest percentage of weight since the beginning.
This past week’s biggest loser was Deanna, having lost 0.47% of herself since the beginning. This was the second of three weeks were everybody went in the right direction (down).
Here are the total competition standings as of last Sunday – April 25th:
Competition is stiff and there could be a big swing any week! How exciting is this? I bet it is as good as the TV show so stay tuned!
If I had an awesome van, this is what I would paint on the side of it, especially if the van had a tinted, heart-shaped window and a ladder on the back.
I am still new to my iPhone and because of that, I am looking at every way possible to use it. My hope is that I will figure out the best and optimal way to suggest to others as well as make my own life simpler. There is probably a side of my family that sees the good and the bad of all this mobility and integration.
Anyways, here is how this blog entry came to be. First, I had to buy a mobile device. The biggest deliberation was determining if I would ever use it and after that whether I wanted an iPhone or a Pre. I ended up choosing an iPhone because I didn’t like the keyboard or the size of the Pre. After choosing the iPhone, I spent a few moments opening up the app store and installing the WordPress app. Configuration of the app took almost no time at all – just enter my URL, my userid and then my password. I was up and running in just a few moments. There was really nothing to it at all.
More importantly, my evening was filled with a fun event with Claire, Brennan and Jill catching fireflies. I was responsible for Lucy and taking the photos. Jill and Brennan caught all of the fireflies while Claire ran around the yard carrying he jar. It was a lot of fun and gave me a fun topic to end my blog entry.
Today, Brennan suggested we go on a family “bike hike”, which I later understood is his way of saying let’s go biking. Really not much occurred on the bike hike except that we went down to the Highland Creek golf course and looked at some electric boxes, my wife was attacked by a pair of shih tzus and we saw a little weird green guy. I love the idea of
the green guy which is pretty evident when you look at him. I don’t see the need to get one at this point given we live in a cul-de-sac and we dont get many people speeding in our cul-de-sac except perhaps the occasional NASCAR enthusiast doing laps. I am just really happy that Brennan is riding faster and more comfortably every day.
Well, what can I say? Brennan is in love with electricity right now and especially high and low voltage electric lines. While at his parent / teacher conference, his teacher indicated that he may have trouble telling stories in sequence. So, I asked him to tell me a story. First, he told me the story, then we drew it on the storyboard and then we made a movie. The following video is that story.
After this, he asked me to make 2 more stories so we will make those soon.
Well, it’s January 2nd and I am just now getting a reasonable list of resolutions together. This year, I think I will group my resolutions into categories to try and make them a little bit more logical. Who knows? Maybe, I will be able to track them and actually keep all of them!
Take better care of myself
Find an exercise I like
Determine frequency of exercise
Do the exercise on that frequency
Help the environment
Find a way to save water by the end of January 2009
Do that way of saving water
Build stronger relationships with my kids
Spend 1 day per month with each kid solo
Build a science experiment each month with Brennan
Attend all of my kids’ school events
Attend all of my kids’ sports events
Enroll Brennan in soccer
Coach Brennan in basketball again
Help Brennan learn to swim
Help Claire learn to swim
Take the kids to the snow
Help around the house more
Find a chore that needs to be done better by end of January
Pick that chore up and do it for the year.
Be home for dinner 3 nights per week
Call my parents once per week
Build stronger relationships with friends
Restart “guy’s night”
Restart the bi-monthly gatherings
NEW ADD: Attend all of Bentley’s meetings.
Well, that is my list. I tried to stay away from the “lose ten pounds” and “be better” resolutions as those never get done. If you read this and have any thoughts, please feel free to post them.
